Boat hits and kills a woman near beach

A tourist who was swimming near Carvoeiro/Ferragudo was fatally hit yesterday by a tourist boat

Barco mata mulher na Praia do Paraíso

A tourist who was swimming by a beach in Carvoeiro, Algarve, was mortally hit yesterday by a maritime-tourist vessel.

The victim, a 53-year-old Belarussian citizen, was bathing with her husband near Paradise Beach when she was hit by a boat.

According to Correo da Manha the captain of the Port of Portimão Ricardo Arrabaça told them that the woman was "transported to the beach, assisted by firefighters and INEM, and rescued by the lifeboat of Ferragudo, but she died."

Algarve24 editors were on a boat trip last week. We noticed many boats going into the caves. Surrounded by canoes and swimmers they show tourists the beauties of the caves.

It was expected that something fatal could happen and hopefully the local authorities will put some rules to the situation, as we do not want another EN 125 in the sea!
