The president of the Albufeira Council went public stressing their position against the installation of a privately operated bivalves aquaculture in coastal waters.
The location would be 7.3 kilometers from shore, which is considered a benefit private interests only. Carlos Silva e Sousa stated that this would harm the fishermen, the maritime tourism businesses and accessibility to the port and the marina of Albufeira.
