The Sweet Potato Festival starts in Aljezur and will last for three days. "The biggest gastronomic festival of the autumn in the South West of Portugal", one of the county's best known agricultural products. Organized by the municipality of Aljezur, in collaboration with the Aljezur Sweet Potato Producers Association, it is an ideal place to enjoy the best sweet potatoes in the country. Taste the excellent traditional gastronomy as well as the sweets of this area, where sweet potatoes, the variety Lyra, certified with Protected Geographical Indication, is the main ingredient.
Experiment the true and delicious sweet potato of Aljezur or simply enjoy it roasted in a wood oven, or fried in slices, as an aperitif, with sugar and cinnamon. Or taste it in traditional dishes in the various restaurants and local shops There are more than enough reasons to go to Aljezur. The event also counts on several dozens of exhibitors and a program that represents the best of the Algarve: from crafts, to trade, through traditional sweets, several showcookings presented by renowned chefs, wine and spirits.
The tickets for this event are free and the times for Friday and Saturday are between 12 and 24 hours, while Sunday it will be from 12 to 22 hours.
