International Snail Festival

For three days the best snail confections from the Algarve, the country, and also the most popular flavors from France, Spain and Morocco, can be enjoyed at the International Snail Festival, held on the 3rd, 4th and 5th of July at Colina do Revelim de Santo António.

Puff pastery with snail stuffing, "Çahroi" will be the big novelty this year on the menu of the International Festival of the Snail in Castro Marim. In addition to the new dish, will join usual especialities, beer, regional sweets and popular Portuguese music.

Also in the field of gastronomy there will be best of traditional desserts, from the traditional donut, to the Don Rodrigo and carob pie, so characteristic in the Algarve, available in the small taverns of the event. The musical billboard brings a lot of variety.

On Friday the 3rd, the stage entertainment begins at 20:00 with a musical show by Teresa da Silva and Afonso Dias, followed by the concert of the Musical Castromarinense Band.

On Saturday the group "Fado Lele", brings together four musicians in an unusual formation, with a repertoire based on the popular urban music of other decades and classics of old fado. The show, at 22.30, is preceded by the animated "Charola do Burrinho", by the group "Ao Luar" (Regional Theatre of Serra do Cauldron).

The street entertainment will be the responsibility of the group "Al Fanfare" on Friday and Saturday, and "Banda às Riscas" and "Mato Bravo" on Sunday.

To close the 2015 edition of the festival, July 5th, the group "D'Alambre" brings sounds of Spain and Portugal, and at the same time Latin American swing rhythms and melodies that promise great musical moment.

Affirming Castro Marim as the best destination for snails of the Algarve and hightlighting traditional products, Mediterranean culture and kitchen is the ultimate goal of the local authority with the realization of the International Snail Festival.
