"Terra de Maio Fair" in Castro Marim

Initiative from Castro Marim Municipal Council, "Terra de Maio" has as motto the promotion and furtherance of the Algarve Goat Breed while sharing knowledge and the flavors associated with them in the municipality of Castro Marim.

This edition of Terra de Maio highlights the opening of the exhibition "Photo Tour Through Our Serra" (15th | 18:00), Culture and Sport Center of the Municipal Council of Castro Marim presents the Wine Guide Algarve (16th | 17:00) and the exhibition and the established National Competition of the Algarvian Goat, whose awards ceremony takes place on Sunday, the 17th, at 13:00.

Intending to offer visitors a rich experience of knowledge and contacts with the rural world, this event offers the opportunity to "get their hands dirty" with the Bread Ateliê, Artisanal Cheese Making Workshop, the Ateliê Burro, the workshop "Aromatic Seeders" and also riding lessons. In the field of experimentation, the Laboratory of Flavours by chef Miguel Teixeira on Friday (18h00), "Tertulia Algarve" on Saturday (19h00) with  chef Louis Anjos, on Sunday (17.00), the tasting Chocofigo, recreation of the "Village of Clams" (an Arab and secular tradition of a typical dish of Olhão cuisine which is of value to the Portuguese cultural heritage), Wine Tasting and degustation of "New flavors of Olive Oil".

Animation will not be lacking, with such a varied program. In street entertainment, Orchestra "Funkarmonica", "Casal dos Tempos Antigos" and the group "Mato Bravo". On stage, a flamenco show with "Pepe de La Punta" (15th | 19:30), "Quim Roscas and Zeca Estacionâncio" (15th | 22:00), the ethnographic folklore group "Almond Blossom" (16th | 19h00), group "+ Dois" (16th | 22:00), "Andanças and Cantorias" by Afonso Dias and Teresa da Silva (17th | 17:00), Banda Musical Castromarinense (17th | 20h00) and the group "Va Viro" (17th | 21h30). Closing Friday night the DJ Gustavo Vera and on Saturday night the DJ PeteSleev.

The animation does not stop with music at "Terra de Maio", you will also find regional cuisine, pubs, animal exhibits, exhibition of hunting articles , children's entertainment, equestrian demonstrations, the "Friends of the Horse" Club and the puppet show "Ai Xico, Xica" by Sofia Pimentão, inside the Ágora's Multipurpose Center.

On Saturday, at 10:00 am, there willbea debate on the Investment Support Measures - PDR 2020, organized by the Regional Directorate of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Algarve and the Association Terras do Baixo Guadiana. This is a seminar where they will address issues such as the Community Support Framework LEADER, Young Farmers, Farms and Processing and Marketing of Agricultural Products.
