Dutch photographer Alex Ten Napel is working on a project with hens and cocks in the North of Portugal. The initiative "Há Festa n'Aldeia" is a project that uncovers the local culture of the Terras de Santa Maria.
The photographer is particularly well-known in the series of portraits of Alzheimer's patients. The photographer has also captured poultry in his large curriculum, presenting them as neoclassical paintings where the animal wins a place not far from the portraits of royalty.
The Hay Festival in the Village (Há Festa n'Aldeia) is a territory development project aimed at regaining the identity and memory of northern villages. The project includes initiatives promoted in each of the villages in articulation with the local population, so as to equip it with new skills that allow them to profit from their local traditions and habits in professional and micro-business projects.
Alex Ten Napel built a studio in the village of Ul, in Oliveira de Azeméis, where "the perfect hen is the one who moves a lot and who is curious about what it is surrounded by", as he explained to Lusa.
