The historical center of Vila Real de Santo António will get its Pousada de Portugal. An investment of the Pestana Group, responsible for the management of the national hotel network.
The work will be worth around 3 million euros and is expected to generate 30 jobs. The new unit will be based in four buildings of historical interest - owned by the local municipality and the municipal company Sociedad de Gestión Urbana -, with 57 rooms.
The project will begin in the third quarter of 2017 and is expected to open in the summer of 2018. In addition to the accommodation, the project includes event rooms, a spa, an outdoor pool and a restaurant
