The first day of the Sardines Festival

The first day of the Sardine Festival, attracted about 15,000 people to the riverside area of Portimão.

Grilled sardines together with good music, a unique spectacle of Áurea and animation for the whole family. The festival, takes place in the Ribeirinha district of Portimão until August 6 along the river Arade. It is one of the main business attractions of the municipality and honors the roots of local society, closely linked to fishing and the canning industry. Proof of this was the performance of the "Alar da Rede" to the sound of "Arribalé" with the participation of the Coral group of Portimão and the Accordion Orchestra of the Academy of Music of Lagos.

In the area of the Old Lota, there was a live demonstration to showing some of the local fishing "arts", such as mending a trawler's nets or the "safar" and "iscar" the artisanal fishing material of Alvor, as well as some films 'On fishing in Portimão'.
