Lagoa Wine Show Headache

Lagoa wine Show with music which was far too loud has been spoiling this weekend’s wine tasting for most of the visitors and many of the exhibitors.

The folklore music could have been very nice in any other atmosphere, but during the Lagoa Wine Show, the wine glasses nearly broke.

The wine growers, who are spending three days of their lives at this Show, try to promote their wines; but they will suffer a headache for more than three days to remember. For many of the visitors it was absolutely impossible to understand the explanations regarding these beautiful Portuguese products promoted in the Arade Congress Center of Parchal/Ferragudo.

Algarve24 spoke with several of the exhibitors who are in serious doubt of joining again next year during the 4th Lagoa Wine Show. We hope this will give the organizers some thought…..

On our way outside on the balcony platform we found two musicians playing the most beautiful soft music on their Portuguese string instruments. We were about to pick up this scenery and swap it with the show going on inside! What a lovely duo, really a shame that their brilliant efforts got lost completely in the background of a dramatic noisy tumult.

We have to say that despite being incredibly loud it was a nice experience for many foreign visitors to be introduced to this kind of local music and the special Portuguese dances performed by very experienced dancers in their colourful outfits. But: wrong venue…

Please do not let the wine growers down!! The exhibitors have one more day for tasting of the most gorgeous wines of the region. And it will be raining today anyway, on the last day of the Third Lagoa Wine Show!!!

Don’t miss the exceptional selection of organic wines in the stand of the organic wine collection. Guillaume and his lovely wife will give the wine tasters an excellent explanation of wines from the Algarve, Dao, Douro and all the way up north where the Vinho Verde comes from. Being a wine expert from France he knows what he is doing. After all France has the roots of so many vines. And Guillaume decided to come to Portugal and to make it his business and his life for promoting organic wines from Portuguese soil. and you will be amazed to see how many wines are now being produced in the organic or bio dynamic way.

Naturally the largest vineyards near Lagoa were present, amongst others the Penina from Portimao with 7 or more of their current products, including Foral, which you should not miss.

And PAXA, Algarve24’s Favourite Wine from Quinta do OUTEIRO, near Silves. You recognise their bottles with their very distinctive labels showing a ‘Q’ or the other ones with ‘PAXA’.

Their rose wine is a wine, not a rose! And their Reserva dates from 2009 and is an absolute must to try a sip, or buy at the Show where they currently promote with special prices.
