The Portuguese Caucus, a group of members of the Congress that defends the interests of Portugal and the Portuguese community in the USA, was renewed at the beginning of the month, confirmed a source of the House of Representatives to Lusa.
"The United States is (was) a nation of immigrants and it is important that members of Congress represent them appropriately and recognize all immigrant communities," Democratic congressman Jim Costa explained to Lusa.
Costa, who is the grandson of immigrants from the Azores, is co-chairman of the Caucus, along with Democratic Congressman of Rhode Island David Cicilline and Republicans David Valadao of California and Lee Zeldin of New York.
